Make the Most of a small kitchen Design

We all dream about owning the perfect home with the perfect sized kitchen that provides us with enough space to prepare fantastic meals and fun dinner parties for our friends and family.

Unfortunately sometimes the dream can be a long way from the reality, and if you have a small kitchen it can be frustrating not being able to do all of the things with it that you'd like. However, here at the RTA Wood Cabinets we are designer and contemporary kitchen specialists, so read on as we detail our top tips for getting the most out of a small kitchen space.

Maximize Storage

The typical modern kitchen contains all sorts of essential equipment and accessories that all require storage, and it can be difficult to do so without the space appearing cluttered in a small kitchen, however there are a few things you can do.

Firstly, make sure you're making the most of the vertical space and make your wall cabinets as high as possible, we recommend only storing rarely-used items higher up if possible. You could even keep the more unusual accessories out of the kitchen altogether in other storage spaces to maximize the space you have.

Check out our drawer inserts and kitchen storage solutions for smart ways of storing essential accessories.

Utilize the 'Magic Triangle'

The name might sound bizarre, but the 'magic triangle' is in fact the most logical method of arranging your Stove, fridge and sink. By positioning them within a couple of steps from each other you can easily and efficiently move between them.

Lighting and Color

Although not directly influencing the physical size of the space, color and lighting can have a big impact on the appearance of the kitchen, giving the impression of a more open room.

Small contemporary designer kitchens should utilize light color cabinets and you should make the most of natural light where possible. we If sunlight is limited, you can use lighting to create a more open aesthetic, but tread carefully as the wrong use of lighting can make a room feel smaller and more oppressive.

RTA Wood Cabinets has numerous options for light colored cabinets, we have the Essex collection which is a white shaker, Trenton collection is an Ivory shaker, Yarmouth collection is an Ivory raised panel, Norwich collection is a light Gray shaker and the Wheaton collection is a cream colored cabinet with a golden glaze.
